Giving Back to the Cannabis Legacy - Flyers Cocktail Co. x Last Prisoner Project

When we founded Flyers we knew we wanted to partner with a charitable organization that could help us give back to, as well as positively impact, the cannabis community. This was really important to us because of the continued imprisonment of people who had been unfairly prosecuted for the use and sale of cannabis in the past—something that companies like Flyers are now permitted to do.

What is the Last Prisoner Project?

The Last Prisoner Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to cannabis criminal justice reform. As the US continues to decriminalize cannabis across many states there still remains the fundamental injustice inflicted upon those who have suffered from criminal convictions and the consequences of those convictions. Through legal intervention, public education and legislative advocacy, the Last Prisoner Project is working to redress the past and continuing harms of the unjust and ineffective approach to drug policy.

When Was the Last Prisoner Project Founded?

The Last Prisoner Project was founded in 2019 by lifelong activist, author, educator, investor, and entrepreneur, Steve DeAngelo. The Last Prisoner Project is made up of a respected team of cannabis industry leaders, criminal and social justice advocates, policy and education experts, and leaders in social justice and drug policy reform. They are committed to freeing every prisoner of the unfair war on drugs, starting with the estimated 40,000 people still imprisoned for cannabis.

How Has Flyers Cocktail Co. Partnered With The Last Prisoner Project?

Every month Flyers drives awareness for the Last Prisoner Project through our social channels, website and partnership programs, as well as contributing monthly donations to support their efforts to decriminalize cannabis

The Need for Social Reform Around Cannabis Consumption & Injustice

At Flyers we believe it is critical to support the fight for the release of everyone who has been imprisoned due to cannabis-related offenses, the removal of cannabis crimes from their records, and providing support, training and education for their successful re-entry into society. We also support the need for acknowledgement that the war on drugs was and is a racist institution that harmed communities of color for decades.
